The MeatUp started as a fast casual concept serving the public at various boardwalk locations in Rockaway throughout the summers grilling up premium flat-top burgers and other mouth watering foods that fit the beach life community.
We have felt the love and continued support over the years so much so that until we settle down with a new location we want to continue serving our clients with our new off- premise catering division. We are catering all year round delivering in Rockaway as well as all of NYC neighborhoods.
We have built a brand that's known for high quality food and professional service which is what we are offering in our catering.
The MeatUp creates menus with an emphasis on seasonably driven ingredients with lots of flavor and variation that are designed to be enjoyed whether in a formal dinner setting or on the beach under a tent on a warm August evening.
We make everything from scratch from our handmade hot d' oeuvres down to our tantalizing desserts. Our various menus help to make selecting food items as easy and stress free as possible but if you have any specific requests we will gladly customize a tailored menu to fit your needs as well.
About our Chef
Chef Michael Fiore
A resident of Rockaway Beach for over 25 years, Michael Fiore grew up in an Italian-American family where food often took centerstage at family gatherings. This inspired him to begin working in restaurants at an early age and pursue a career in the culinary arts.
Most days you will find Michael at his 5,000 sq ft production kitchen located in Queens preparing along with his team delicious and seasonal driven dishes for their upcoming events. Michael is also the Executive Chef for Mary Giuliani Catering and Events located in NYC which has repeatedly been awarded Caterer of the Year and North America's Top 18 Caterers by Biz Bash.
Here in the Rockaways he is the creator of The MeatUp Grill. It started as a fast casual concept on the boardwalk of Jacob Riis Park Beach in 2017 serving the public at two separate locations throughout the summer. It has now transitioned into an all year round full-service off-premise catering operation serving the NY Metropolitan area including the Rockaway Peninsula.
Michael's earlier career began after graduating from The Culinary Institute of America. His journey continued by training in some of NYC’s top restaurants with chefs such as David Burke, Michael Ayoub & Lidia Bastianich. Michael also trained at the renowned La Gavroche in London, England.
In 2004, he opened his first full service operation called Tempo Restaurant & Wine Bar followed by a fast casual of shoot Tempo Presto; both were located in Park Slope, Brooklyn . There he began setting up his culinary dreams creating new dishes utilizing his experiences with a Mediterranean flare. Tempo was voted top new restaurant of New York City by Zagat & received stellar reviews on social media articles and national publications including the NY Times. Michael also appeared on The Today Show cooking up some of his signature dishes, including his famed Bucatini with Sicilian Pistachio Pesto that won the “Critics Pick” award in 2005 by Timeout New York magazine.
In 2010, Michael found a new outlet to showcase his culinary expertise by focusing his attention on event catering and landing a chefs position in one of NYC’s well-established catering companies. He now had the opportunity to showcase other types of cuisine in his repertoire from different cultures around the world. Since then, Michael has catered for many Hollywood celebrities, fashion designers, and political figures. Some of his highlighted events include the Chelsea Clinton wedding, an annual celebrity dinner fundraiser for the Good Foundation hosted by Jerry & Jessica Seinfeld, and the Bloomberg LP summer picnic for over 14,000 guests.
